FreshWebz Web Design & Affiliate Marketing Blog The Ups & Downs of an Affiliate Marketeer

I’ve decided to switch supplier for my mobile phone offers website despite actually making a couple of sales through it at the start of the year.

The site appeared to be not working properly for some time; it had lost the custom text & meta-tags that I had added to the site & no responses were forthcoming when I wrote to the support team. As a result, I wasn’t sure that the site was even functioning properly & I decided to leave it whilst I worked on other projects. Going through the posts on the A4U forum, it seems a number of other people have had the same problems with non-payment & no replies to their enquiries.

I decided to send mobileshop.com an invoice for the outstanding monies & have received a reply from their accounts team to say that the money will be paid. So anyone with money due to them from this program might want to send their invoice to lisa.hartley@valuecomparison.co.uk. Value Comparison seems to be converting previously retail sites into comparison sites & would be a company I would like to deal with, if they actually answered any e-mails, or replied to postings on A4U!!

I have a broadband comparison domain that I would like to use & the laptop comparison site would also be useful, but if the company ignores its affiliates, what is the point? To be fair, my enquiries up to now have been with mobileshop.com, so maybe contact with Value Comparison directly will have a better response. Will let you know!

In the meantime, Mobiles4Me has now switched to the e2save affiliate program & I am now promoting the site again, through link building for now & possibly with a blog soon.

“Introducing iPhone 3G. With fast 3G wireless technology, Maps with GPS, support for enterprise features like Microsoft Exchange, and the new App Store, iPhone 3G puts even more amazing features in your hands. And just like the original iPhone, it combines three products in one — a revolutionary phone, a widescreen iPod, and a breakthrough Internet device with rich HTML email and full web browsing. iPhone3G. It redefines what a mobile phone can do. Again.”

This is great news for anyone that loves Apple products & has to have the latest gadgets….but hang on, wouldn’t those people have already bought an iPhone? And been forced to sign an 18 month contract with O2 at a minimum cost of nearly £1000?! Do you feel a bit cheated?

However, although getting the new 3G phone may have to wait, you will get a new OS for your current model – Apple says:

“Your iPhone will do even more with the iPhone 2.0 software update. Extend its capability with applications you download directly from the new App Store. Get push email, calendar, and contacts from your work’s Microsoft Exchange server. And use new great features in Mail, Contacts, and other applications. Free in the next update.”

Maybe the iPhone 3G is the “phone” the iPhone SHOULD have been in the first place & it was just a very clever piece of marketing to release what I consider a sub standard product & get loads of people to fall for it, only to then do it all over again with what now seems to be a decent package!

    What’s new on iPhone 3G?

    • 3G Speed – Surf the web and download email over fast 3G mobile networks.
    • Maps with GPS – Find your location, get directions, and track your route with GPS.
    • App Store – Get ready to browse and download innovative applications for iPhone.
    • iPhone in Enterprise – Get push email, contacts, and calendars with Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync.

    More Features

Take a look at additional iPhone features including:

    • Better Email Management
    • Contacts Search
    • View More Attachments
    • Scientific Calculator

    More Languages

For its worldwide release, iPhone 3G adds more language support.

If you have waited until now to get your iPhone, then take a look on Mobiles4Me, where we will have the iPhone 3G available from 11th July.

Bearing mind the fact that the mobile phone market shows no sign of fading away & phones are incorporating more & more features (I don’t include the iPhone in this as I think it’s a typical Apple “style over substance” effort – when it has 3G it might be capable of browsing the Internet properly!!).

For example, my own T-mobile MDA Compact III has a camera, media player, FM radio, uses Internet Explorer for web browsing, runs Windows Mobile 5 & even doubles as a sat-nav!!!! It really is a great piece of kit & does everything the iPhone does & more!

Anyway, rant over :o ) back to the point lol. I was interested in setting up a mobile phone site as there are apparently now 7 mobile phones for every person in the UK, but the pace of development shows no sign of slowing down, as the phone companies have to keep coming up with new ideas in order to convince us to buy new handsets. *

I came across the FonetasticMobile affiliate programme run by MobileShop.com, which looks really slick & clean, but the thing that sold it to me was the Deal Finder feature! This allows you to choose a particular handset, or manufacturer, pick which features the phone MUST have, to then choose the number of free minutes and/or free texts you want & your monthly budget, whether you would prefer a particular network and the option to include free gifts. Then the system searches through all the retailers until it finds matching deals & displays them to you!

So, as a lover of anything like this, that sorts through all the options & offers you exactly what you are looking for, I was hooked on this programme but as usual, the search was on for a domain name….something to do with mobile phones, not already in use or been bought….not an easy job! However, thinking about existing brands turned me towards Phones4U…..& a quick search revealed that Mobiles4Me was available, so this is what I went for.

A little bit of design on a banner & logo & www.mobiles4me.co.uk was ready for action!! We have thousands of pay monthly and pay as you go mobile phone deals listed, along with the latest mobile broadband offers. If you’re looking for the best prices, the latest handsets, easy to use search results, thousands of Mobile Phone Deals, Cheap Mobile Phones Offers & where the whole mobile phone market is available at your finger tips, all on one site – then Mobiles4Me is the place to choose your new mobile phone deal!

*If like me, you feel a little bit guilty that there are so many mobile phones for every person in the UK, then I would suggest using a company like Envirofone to get rid of any old handsets you don’t want. Envirofone is the UK’s number 1 online mobile phone recycling site & have paid out over £4 million to their users and thousands of pounds more are paid out every week. It’s free to use, pays you cash for your old mobile and helps the environment.
