I’ve decided to target any new dating sites to more niche markets & to this end, have just set up Uniformed Dating, using the Dating Factory platform, which allows for a wide range of targeted sites, such as uniformed, vegetarian, disabled, BBW, black etc.

This choice was taken after carrying out some research into the most popular & well searched terms on Google. It appears that uniform dating is a very popular phrase, with over 70K searches a month at present & relatively low competition. Obviously, there is an established uniformed dating site (which advertises on national television), but in comparison to the generic dating sites, this appears to be a comparatively unsaturated market at the moment!

Uniformed Dating is free to join and has lots of women and men in uniform including Police Officers, Firemen (and women), Soldiers, Military Singles, RAF Personnel, Nurses, Doctors, Pilots and even Civilian Air Crew – in fact, ANYONE who wears a UNIFORM!

I’ve finally got round to setting up my gay dating website, for which I’ve had the domain name for months! Using the “Find Me” moniker/brand, I today launched Find Me Gay Dates. I also have Find Me Lesbian Dates to set up, but there don’t seem to be many new members joining the database, so I’m not going to rush it.

But in a mad flurry of dating action(!), I also set up Find Me Mature Singles, which is a dating site for older singles (aged 46+). I picked this age as there are a number of sites for over 40’s or over 50’s, but I think 46 is more representative of a true “middle age” :o)  Oh, what the hell, I just wanted to be different lol. The actual age range of members on this site is 46-80 & the mature singles market seems to be quite popular at the moment, se we’ll see if this site does better than Find Me Dates which starts from 18.

I’ve decided to switch supplier for my mobile phone offers website despite actually making a couple of sales through it at the start of the year.

The site appeared to be not working properly for some time; it had lost the custom text & meta-tags that I had added to the site & no responses were forthcoming when I wrote to the support team. As a result, I wasn’t sure that the site was even functioning properly & I decided to leave it whilst I worked on other projects. Going through the posts on the A4U forum, it seems a number of other people have had the same problems with non-payment & no replies to their enquiries.

I decided to send mobileshop.com an invoice for the outstanding monies & have received a reply from their accounts team to say that the money will be paid. So anyone with money due to them from this program might want to send their invoice to lisa.hartley@valuecomparison.co.uk. Value Comparison seems to be converting previously retail sites into comparison sites & would be a company I would like to deal with, if they actually answered any e-mails, or replied to postings on A4U!!

I have a broadband comparison domain that I would like to use & the laptop comparison site would also be useful, but if the company ignores its affiliates, what is the point? To be fair, my enquiries up to now have been with mobileshop.com, so maybe contact with Value Comparison directly will have a better response. Will let you know!

In the meantime, Mobiles4Me has now switched to the e2save affiliate program & I am now promoting the site again, through link building for now & possibly with a blog soon.

Bearing mind the fact that the mobile phone market shows no sign of fading away & phones are incorporating more & more features I was interested in setting up a mobile phone site as there are apparently now 7 mobile phones for every person in the UK, but the pace of development shows no sign of slowing down, as the phone companies have to keep coming up with new ideas in order to convince us to buy new handsets.

I came across the Fonetastic Mobile affiliate programme run by MobileShop.com, which looks really slick & clean, but the thing that sold it to me was the Deal Finder feature! This allows you to choose a particular handset, or manufacturer, pick which features the phone MUST have, to then choose the number of free minutes and/or free texts you want & your monthly budget, whether you would prefer a particular network and the option to include free gifts. Then the system searches through all the retailers until it finds matching deals & displays them to you!

So, as a lover of anything like this, that sorts through all the options & offers you exactly what you are looking for, I was hooked on this programme but as usual, the search was on for a domain name….something to do with mobile phones, not already in use or been bought….not an easy job! However, thinking about existing brands turned me towards Phones4U…..& a quick search revealed that Mobiles4Me was available, so this is what I went for.
